When I was a child my grandmother had a mini-trampoline. Whenever I would go to her house to visit I always headed straight to the trampoline, got on, and started jumping around. When I was a teenage I learned about the health and fitness benefits of the trampoline, so I got one for myself.
When I became pregnant I asked my doctor if I could still jog on my trampoline, and he said it would be fine since I was already used to it. Throughout both pregnancies I exercised on my trampoline and it really helped me to keep my weight down, stay fit and it even helped me have fairly quick labors (6 hours).
I continued using the trampoline throughout my 20′s and into my 30′s, but somewhere along the way, the trampoline got put into a closet or in the garage, and I stopped using it. Well, guess what? I’ve brought it back out, dusted it off, and started using it again, and WOW, I forgot what a great workout it is.
It’s also convenient. I can put on a TV program or video and jog in the comfort of my livingroom. Before I know it 30 minutes or an hour has passed and I barely realized it. Having the trampoline as an exercise option is also great when the weather turns and I don’t want to run around the park in the pouring rain.
Some of the health benefits of exercising on a trampoline are:
- It is an aerobic exercise.
- It gives you a full-body workout.
- It aids lymphatic circulation.
- It speeds up the metabolism.
- It improves coordination.
- It improves all-over muscle tone.
- It is a low-impact exercise.
- It is appropriate for people of all fitness levels.
To get some added benefits, I hold a 4-6 lb dumbbell in each hand and do some arm exercises as I am jogging.

Something you may not have known that my Family Doctor shared with me is that rebounding is great for “every” muscle in the “entire” body.
As you jump into the air every single muscle as well as your organs contract. Then, as you land, they all release. This action of contrating and releasing gives all your muscles and internal organs a healthy continually workout.
You know, I had heard that somewhere before, but I must have forgotten, thanks for the wonderful reminder!
